Here is a fine example of a very early Craftsman drill press fresh from a Minnesota barn pick. I was suprised to see everything still works as is should. However, the motor is not original I'm thinking. The bottom two mounts are tied in with wire on the motor plate.

It doesn't appear this motor is the one that came with it. However it does run still.

The belt is completly shot in my opinion. I did some research to get an idea of its age and all I can find is some info from vintage machinery org online.

Estimated year is 1937 and it comes with the original badge! Plus the surface plate is incredible condition.

I only noticed two very small witness marks from drill points. If you zoom in on the pic you will see they are on either side of the main through hole. I've seen some surface plates littered with witness marks but not this one. I put some lubricant on the part the drill so it goes up and down smoothly now. I do notice a slight resistance about two inches into the pull for about a 1/4 inch then it goes completely down around 4 inches or so total.

Maybe it needs a good cleaning. Actually the whole thing needs a good cleaning but it appers other than the motor everything is original and in good working order.

I don't see any repairs, crack or damage other than exterior wear because of its age. In my opinion its a fantastic example for someone to restore if that's their thing they like doing. If more or less, we will adjust invoice once I have your address.

Chuck is a Jacobs No. Cap is 5/64 to 1/2.

Total height is 35 to the top of the wing when the top portion it at the max height. Clearance of the chuck and table at max positions is about 11. Review pictures thoroughly for condition before purchasing.
